- A must have lens for any natural light photo

This is a must have lens for somebody who is seriously in to all natural light photography. On a 5Dm2 body, it performs well. Sharpness & color rendition are truly exceptional. Reminds me of a top quality cinema grade lens. Not intended for fast moving object (due to its slower focusing mechanism), the f/1.2 is a large jump in light from f/2.8. 85mm has an advantage of having the ability to be a bit farther away from the subject to get the shot. This allows more intimate candid shot. I am liking it a lot that it always stay on my 5DM2 body as a medium telephoto. In fact, I bought multiple 5DM2s for this lens. Feels rock solid to hold & shoot. My other 5Dm2 is a 14/2.8 or 24/1.4 & the 7D is a 200/2.8. When the shoot is controlled & you require the highest optical quality, prime lenses are the way to go for those who demands the best of the best & won't willing to accept anything less. I don't mind carrying three bodies w/ all primes. 70-200/2.8 IS two is nice. But think me, going fr. two.8 to one.2 is a large leap in ISO reduction. Prior to this I must be using at least 3000+ ISO. Now I"m averaging 600-800 ISO. Large reduction in grain & noise. The 7D also benefits from this. However, I don't do low light shooting w/ 7D. It is basically doesn't capture low light well vs 5D.

- Great Camera

It fits smaller hands and lighter than A77, but the grip is a small bit close to the lens.
EVF is great, I do  everything using EVF including adjusting menu settings and preview photographs.

Focusing is tremendous fast and the depth of field can be clearly seen.
I think 24MP is massive...my 16G card fills up quickly in raw+jpg mode.

I'm more than pleased...

Actually there is no a lot of to mention concerning it. I've had it for nearly 2 months and is my first DSLR. Despite some friends' recommendations to buy a Nikon or a Canon, somehow i am "married" with Sony considering it a good and innovative whole. The camera fits perfectly my desires and though the lenses are quite expensive and restricted, i do not complain. However, I should warn buyers to contemplate shopping for it with some other quite lens instead of this 18-55mm. It looks to own a mechanic flaw when making an attempt to adjust the range. It doesn't slips smoothly and will take you somewhat longer to fit the image at your range want.

Nikon D3S Amazing camera...!

If you can afford this camera and are shopping for a high end body, get the D3S! i am not getting to be ready to say things that the professional reviewers haven't, therefore i am not getting to try. Overall, i am completely thrilled with this camera. The ISO is amazing, double memory cards, 4200 photo battery life, the texture in my hands.... cannot be happier.

Pentax has really done well.

I have been shooting with a Pentax K20D for a couple of years and love the camera, the sole problems that I had with it are eliminated in the K5. I actually have had a K5 for just over a month and are putting it though its paces. The ISO is superb shooting as 6400 appears like 800 or less in their older cameras. they need moved the controls around that bothered me somewhat at first but they really are much more intuitive and far easier to use, another improvement. I the auto focus problems are taken care of particularly if you us a DA* lens. i am using the 50-135 DA* likewise as a number of non star lenses. The star lens is superb, nice image quality, good speed, wonderful bokah, and the auto focus is extremely sensible and just about silent. it had been easy to specialize in the trees outside my windows then on the pains cross members while not the auto focus getting confused. I actually havent done abundant with the video nonetheless but what I have done appearance nice. I definately would recommend this camera, it performs splendidly.

Sony A77 is Best Camera

This is the simplest camera on the market short of a full frame. it will focus in extreme low light. I bought an Olympus E5 last year and therefore the technology behind this camera makes my E5 look like a good grandfather. Meets the need

I have 2 Nikon DSLRs and smart glass, therefore when I want the horsepower I assemble the acceptable combos. I never expected this camera to rival what those do. What I did wished was a replacement for my carry around camera (a Canon A620) with upgraded capabilities and a smaller housing (camera phones are improving, but nowhere near what i would like as way as full manual controls). i used to be a bit skeptical about the quality of the the pictures and do notice a different reasonably image degrading when I magnify some images than i get with the Nikons, but for the kind of shots i will be able to use it for, a non-issue. Yes, the battery runs down faster than others, therefore I have 2. i prefer the function ring, am currently used to the menu locations and may quickly alter the flash, exposure and ISO for difficult lighting. i'm glad they finally got trapped with production. i used to be undecided about this back in October, had one in my hand and place it down. when I modified my mind and wished one, I had to attend over half-dozen weeks. i would like to pay more time with the RAW files; they need a different work flow than my Nikon RAW files, but i don't consider this a balk. The video capabilities are adequate, but i'm using a totally different HD video camera when one thing scheduled turns up. i would recommend this to anyone that wishes a small quality carry around camera with video (hoping the assembly quality of your copy is good).
